Time warp.

Who will step up to help Keith Smart and Dean Garrett fill the void created by the graduation of Steve Alford and Daryl Thomas? Will David Rivers recover from his off-season car accident and lead the Irish back to the Sweet 16? With the help of Troy Lewis and Todd Mitchell, can Gene Keady finally move beyond a gaudy regular season record and score some NCAA Tournament success?*
Those were the storylines on December 8, 1987, the last time that Indiana (#6), Purdue (#13), and Notre Dame (#19) were all ranked by the AP (it then was the top 20). Today, IU fell to #14, Notre Dame broke into the poll at #22, and Purdue made its season debut at #24. Butler is #10, so the state of Indiana is well represented.
* No.
